WANTED, JOB MAKERS

Don't look for jobs, Create them

As of the 2nd half of 2010, approximately 25% of our country's labor force was either unemployed or underemployed. A significant portion of those unemployed were actually college graduates. As for 2011, the average unemployment rate was roughly at 7.1% nationwide; of all the regions, Metro Manila had the highest at 12%. This year, over a million people will also be joining the labor force.

Instead of looking for a job, why not create your own job by starting your own business? Be the boss and exercise your creativity and freedom by deciding on everything from the type of business to the name and logo of your company. Start a business in food, manufacturing, creative media, or other services.

Emulate E.S.A. entrepreneurship alumni who all successfully launched their profitable business ventures in their final year of study -- some even made their first million by the time they graduated. In the process, also become a modern day bayani and help the country by providing much needed jobs to those who are unemployed and by also introducing better products and services.

CAN IT BE DONE?

Entrepreneurship Myths

Many people dream to start their won business but quit before doing so thinking that they:

a] Need a lot of capital

b] Have to be a genius

c] Must invent a totally new product

None of these hold true. Many entrepreneurs have gone from "rags to riches", many others weren't honor students, and most simply innovated.

Yes, Entrepreneurs can be Made

The school's unique program aims to mentor young individuals to succesfully startup and run their own businesses. For that end, the school has adopted an Experiential Action Learning approach which emphasizes the actual application of concepts in the real world. The school has also developed an innovative combination of a strong academic curriculum and progressive formation programs that help ignite and strengthen a student's entrepreneurial spirit.

Over the last few years, over a hundred E.S.A. students successfully launched their startup ventures. A lot started with very little capital, many had an average academic performance, and almost all simply innovated. Those aho performed best were the ones most open to learning and working hard.

The scholarship program seeks individuals with strong entrepreneurial potential and who have been active in their extra-curricular activities. Although good academic perormance is important, applicants need not be limited to honor students.**

*Majority of grants will be for those taking BS Entrepreneruship but some slots will be allocated for AB Communication Arts students (such students will also be required to take a few entrepreneurship modules and start up their own venture). **Those with good NCAE scores under "Enterprising" are also eligible to apply. Some candidates nominated by Guidance Counselors or partner schools may be eligible to automatically receive a grant. Other applicants can also simply submit a proposal on a good business idea.
